Ms.LESLEY STAHL CAPABLE OF ETHNIC SLURS

The leading journalist of CBS ("60 Minutes"),Ms.Lesley Stahl, in her new book, "Reporting Live", published by Simon and Schuster, falsely accuses Poles of murdering Jews.

Ms. Lesly Stahl, when discussing Poland's current economic difficulties, justifies them by the lack of Polish-Jewish merchants, who according to Ms.Stahl, were murdered by Poles during the Second World War with the help of Poland's German neighbors.

This derogatory and false statement produced wide protests in Poland, and in the Polish-American Communities. One has to wonder if other reports by Lesley Stahl on CBS program "60 Minutes" are similarly lacking the substance of journalistic integrity and are tinted by ethnic hatred.

Poland and Poles do not deserve such slander as they were the prime target of Hitler's genocide program. This resulted in the murder of 6 million Polish citizens, including 3 million Polish Catholics (including clergy) who died along with Jews, Homosexuals and Gypsies in Auschwitz and numerous other Nazi concentration camps.

According to the Polish leading newspaper, "Rzeczpospolita", under pressure from the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Polish Media and individuals, Simon and Schuster reportedly is removing Lesley Stahl's derogatory statements from the new edition of the book, which will appear in January 2000. The representative of Simon and Schuster refused to comment if the current version of the book with the derogatory ethic slur will be removed from bookstore shelves.
